AI-powered diagnostics that predict drive failure

Powered by a cloud AI engine provided by ULINK, the world leader in IT storage interface test tools, the ULINK DA Drive Analyzer analyzes millions of real users’ historical data of drives to intelligently predict if one of your drives is near failure. This allows you to plan for replacements and service continuity before drive failure occurs. With DA Drive Analyzer's user-friendly interface, you can check both the life prediction score and drive health status (including temperature and test IOPS). You can also view advanced information about your drives on the ULINK DA Portal. With DA Drive Analyzer, surprise drive failures are a thing of the past.

Why you need DA Drive Analyzer

When a drive fails, you not only potentially lose all the files/data stored on it, but it can also lead to a severe domino effect that causes downtime and cripples interconnected services and workflows. While most enterprises reply on S.M.A.R.T. attributes as drive detection tools, a study has shown that over 30% of drives failures did not trigger any S.M.A.R.T. error alerts. By receiving detailed information on each drive from AI-powered prediction provided by DA Drive Analyzer, you can plan drive replacement in advance to prepare for drive failure before it occurs.

Designed for enterprises and SMBs

  • Ensures enterprise data security

  • Supports SATA, SAS and NVMe drive analysis

  • Completes drive failure prediction in 24 hours

  • Customized drive detection settings

How DA Drive Analyzer works

Your NAS tracks raw drive health data, records system events, and uploads this data to the cloud AI engine daily, allowing AI to have sufficient data for drive failure analysis. DA Drive Analyzer then provides recommendations based on an AI trained with the analysis data from over a million drives.

Check the status of all drives in your NAS and connected expansion units.

Check each drive’s status on Drive Life Prediction Score. The lower the score, the lower the drive’s health.

DA Drive Analyzer 2.0New Features

Comprehensive drive health diagnostics. Strengthened data protection.

Enhanced enterprise privacy with Proxy server connection

Most organizations deploy proxy servers to secure client devices when connecting to external networks. DA Drive Analyzer supports various proxy server connection protocols to hide your IP address from external networks while uploading NAS data to the cloud.

  • Six proxy protocols supported: HTTP / HTTPS / SOCKS4 / SOCKS5 / SOCKS4A / SOCKS5H

Supported in all QNAP NAS with QTS 5.1.3 / QuTS hero h5.1.3 (or later).

Supports SATA, SAS and NVMe drive analysis

DA Drive Analyzer not only supports SATA HDD/SSD status detection but also predicts drive failure of high-performance SAS HDDs/SSDs and NVMe SSDs. This assists enterprises in taking early action to replace drives before failure, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring that critical business data is safeguarded.

Get drive failure predictions within 24 hours

DA Drive Analyzer analyzes drive health data in as little as 24 hours. Within 24 hours of installing the application, you will be able to predict the likelihood of failure over the next 6 months. With this information, you can plan for drive replacements and prevent potential data loss and system downtime.

Customizes your drive data upload time

You can flexibly decide the upload time of your drive health data to ULINK’s AI-powered analytics platform with customized schedules to ensure that the data needed for drive health analysis reaches DA Drive Analyzer.

Supported in all QNAP NAS with QTS 5.1.3 / QuTS hero h5.1.3 (or later).

What to do when drives are "Warning" or "Critical"

  • Back up your data

Use Hybrid Backup Sync to ensure the safety of your data.

  • Plan replacement

To avoid downtime or adverse impacts to your services, start scheduling the drive replacement and create a backup plan for your services.

  • Replace drives

You can replace drives after shutting down system, or use the following tutorial to learn how to hot-swap drives.

Monitor drive health from the cloud or your computers

ULINK DA Portal – cloud-based management GUI

The ULINK DA Portal provides a comprehensive way to use DA Drive Analyzer’s data, allowing you to monitor the system via the web without needing to log into your NAS. It provides a visualized Radar Chart, with a score for each axis Self-Test, Host-Detected Issues, S.M.A.R.T., Temperature, and Drive-Detected Issues, to help you quickly check the drive health status. You can visit the ULINK DA Portal from the Additional Information Tab in the DA Drive Analyzer App.

It is recommended to install DA Drive Analyzer App on the NAS.

DA Monitor

The DA Monitor, available for Windows® and macOS®, lets you easily monitor several devices for multiple users, which can be especially helpful for IT staff.

You must install the DA Drive Analyzer app on the NAS.

Automatic RAID disk replacement before potential failure

You can utilize various disk drive assessment tools. Once a trigger event occurs (For example, DA Drive Analyzer shows warning), QNAP NAS automatically moves data from the affected disk in a RAID group to a spare disk, before the data on the affected disk becomes inaccessible. This feature removes the need to wait for the system to replace drives only after a failure occurs, and improves system reliability by preventing the need for lengthy (from hours to even weeks) RAID rebuilding which risks data loss and impacts system performance.

FAQ

  • No extra inbound ports need to be opened, and there is no remote access involved.
  • Data from the ULINK cloud is received for display only and no local commands are triggered.
  • The API that retrieves information is certified to ensure its origin.
  • Uploaded files reference drive system data - no user files or data are included.
  • Uploaded data goes through the QNAP proxy server, not an unknown server.
  • The ULINK cloud platform applies the complete Amazon AWS infrastructure which is behind the AWS firewall and SSL.

No. We do not collect any data stored on your NAS. Personal identifiable information such as host ID, device serial number, and drive serial number are collected to distinguish specific drives and provide the service. DA Drive Analyzer has been built to comply with strict security and privacy regulations - including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You access the DA Drive Analyzer portal with QNAP ID information. After logging into the DA Drive Analyzer portal, you can monitor advanced drive information and set email alerts and weekly reports.

Yes. Like all AI-based solutions, DA Drive Analyzer requires usage data to improve itself. We are also constantly working to improve its algorithms and other features.

Not always. DA Drive Analyzer shows the possibility of drive failure within 180 days following the first appearance of each category. Those alerts are not related to the estimated remaining days.

Visit the following tutorial for instructions to hot-swap failed hard drives: Hot-swapping the hard drives when the RAID crashes

While most conventional diagnostic tools are limited to using S.M.A.R.T. status, the ULINK cloud AI engine also checks the historical usage data of over a million drives to predict potential drive failures. This means that while your drive may have normal S.M.A.R.T. status, it might be showing signs that a drive failure is possible.

No. All licenses from DA Drive Analyzer do not support license transfer.
