Why can't I see certain apps in App Center after configuring a high availability (HA) environment on my QNAP device?
Applicable Products
- QuTS hero h5.3.0 or later
- High Availability Manager 1.0 or later
Overview
When your QNAP NAS is configured as part of a High Availability (HA) Cluster, certain features are restricted to maintain system stability and data consistency. QNAP and third-party apps that have not yet been tested, optimized, and verified for HA environments might function incorrectly or lead to unexpected behavior. As a precaution, apps that are not compatible with HA environments are automatically hidden from App Center when an HA environment is activated in order to prevent users from installing these apps and encountering unexpected issues. Apps provided by third-party app repositories that have not yet been validated for use with HA environments are also hidden.
This limitation is implemented to ensure the stability of your system and preserve the integrity of your data by preventing apps incompatible with HA from disrupting or affecting critical HA operations such as data synchronization and failover.
Apps compatible with HA
For a list of apps that are compatible with HA environments, see App Compatibility List for High Availability Environments.
Workarounds
If you need to use a specific app, you can try one of the following:
Remove the HA configuration: If you do not require an HA environment, you remove the HA configuration and then install and use the desired app. If you require an HA environment but do not need to run the app continuously, you can temporarily remove the HA configuration, install and use the app, and then re-configure the HA environment.
Wait for the app to be updated to support HA environments: As updates are released, some apps may become compatible with HA environments. We recommend periodically checking for updates of these applications that bring HA compatibility.
